Yesterday, after deciding that the microwave hood was too big for our kitchen and it needed to be returned, thus having to go back into it’s box, some unknown metal bit on the bottom cut the shit out of my wrist, causing a bit of a bloody geyser right there on my new wood floors. Eep.
It kept bleeding so we went to Urgent Care in case I severed an artery or something.
I didn’t. It bled for awhile, but eventually stopped. But it was a fairly big/deep cut so they determined I needed stitches. Six stitches to be exact.
I’ve had stitches before, but I’ve always been knocked out for them. Can I just say–seeing them sew you up is a really bizarre experience.
I’m not allowed to cover it, so all day I’ve been annoyed at my franken-wrist.
Of course, we were *this* close to finishing the kitchen this last weekend.
Apparently the universe felt like maybe we were rushing things. Ten days–no heavy lifting, no washing dishes, no grabbing anything that might rip the stitches out. Essentially, 10 days until we can finish the kitchen.
I swear, since the first day of 2008, the universe has been trying to tell me to slow down, or else.
Apparently, I prefer the Or Else category.
The good news in all this–I can still run, so starting running is a go for tommorow and I think I’m going to have a cool little half-moon scar as a result of the stupid microwave.
